Organisational Strategy Assessment
The Organisational Strategy Assessment (OSA) is a diagnostic tool designed to assess the overall direction and strategy of a community organisation from a leadership, planning, operational and effectiveness perspective.
The OSA has been developed by Schokman Consulting to equip decision-makers in community organisations – including board members, CEOs and senior management – with a holistic understanding of their organisation’s direction and strategy and to prompt or inform action to improve the organisation’s effectiveness and impact.

Training for Child Safe Organisations
The National Principles for Child Safe Organisations were developed in response to recommendations made by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. The Royal Commission found that many organisations across Australia failed to protect children from abuse, failed to listen to children who tried to disclose abuse, and failed to respond appropriately when abuse came to light.
The Royal Commission identified that policies and procedures are important, but not enough alone to keep children safe and well in organisational settings. Rather, to prevent harm to children and young people, organisations must create a culture, adopt strategies and take action to promote child wellbeing and reduce the likelihood of future harm in organisational settings.
The National Principles comprise ten standards that are underpinned by a child rights approach and focus on the need for organisations to create environments where children’s safety and wellbeing is at the centre of thought, values and actions.
Schokman Consulting provides a range of training packages on the National Principles that encompass key considerations to implement the principles within organisational leadership, governance and culture.
Wellbeing Initiative
Like many sectors, the community and not-for-profit sector is facing a wellbeing crisis that impacts on the ability of organisations to achieve their intended impact. Schokman Consulting has developed a range of initiatives to support not-for-profit leaders, human rights organisations and community organisations to build a wellbeing framework into their organisational culture and work.
Justice Reinvestment
In 2014, Ben Schokman was awarded a nine-month Myer Innovation Fellowship to research and design new and innovative approaches to address the over-imprisonment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia. Ben was closely involved in the conceptualisation and operation of the Change the Record campaign and Justice Reinvestment Network Australia.
